There’s one month left for the chance to have a new tree planted on your street before the spring. To see trees planted in the current planting season (November 2023 - April 2024), Trees for Streets applications must be received by 3rd December. This gives plenty of time to assess applications, proposed planting sites and ensure what type of tree would thrive there. Applications for new street trees made after 3rd December will still be considered, but will likely be planted in next year’s planting season which will start in November 2024. The tree planting season runs from November to April so that the trees have cooler, wetter weather to flourish in as they get used to their new homes. We’ve so far received 39 applications for street trees in our partnership with national charity Trees for Streets. The project makes it easier for Worthing residents and local businesses to sponsor tree-planting in their local roads and parks. The aim is to bring more greenery to residential streets, meaning residents can enjoy the benefits that urban trees bring. By connecting communities with a sense of civic pride and ownership, residents can also help support nature and mitigate climate change. To find out more about the Worthing Trees for Streets scheme, and apply for a tree, visit: https://lnkd.in/eW9MHAka

    1. Envision a future where wild animals exist solely in internet searches or cartoons. Is this the legacy we want to leave?2. Do you aspire to pass on a future where our grandchildren can revel in the same natural beauty that enriched our own lives?Fortunately, there is hope, and many initiatives are underway across the planet to conserve forests. One noteworthy initiative – Heartha, has been actively making a difference in Western Ghats.Support us in bringing hope back to our forests and the indigenous tribal communities that coexist!Contribute - We’re initiating Phase I of a fundraising campaign aimed at gathering INR 1,10,000. This will facilitate the relocation of the forest caretaker from his current townhouse (30 minutes away) to a living space within the private forest (for better impact). Our plan involves establishing a foundation for our Forest Sanctuary House, installing compost toilets and a shower unit, and implementing “slope to step” techniques on the forest terrain. We are also procuring a small solar panel with a battery and inverter kit, needed for Internet & Laptop to launch a crowdfunding campaign. To contact us – 9745753899 (WhatsApp)To support us – 9745753899@paytmFor more - https://lnkd.in/dxJTQQTh#permaculture #restorativeecology #lantana #westernghats #biodiversity #forest #wild

GUESS WHO IS SPONSORING THE 2024 LA NATIVE PLANT GARDEN TOUR THIS YEAR? 🤭You didn't see THAT coming, DID you? (or maybe you did 🤣)🌿💎🪴 The Olympia Collective is a proud sponsor of the 21st Annual Native Plant Garden Tour happening April 13-14 in Los Angeles hosted by by Theodore Payne Foundation. This is a self-guided, two day tour of selected West and East LA native gardens containing at least 50 percent native plants. Since 2003, more than 700 public and private landscapes have been featured on the tour, ranging from coastal container gardens to modernist foothill estates to experimental urban homesteads. Each garden is a harmonious creation of Southern California’s climate, soil, natural vegetation, and native wildlife in one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots. If you are wondering where this came from, we’re starting to get intrigued by how nonprofits can learn from nature to GROW, CULTIVATE, NURTURE, and PROPOGATE donors and revenue. We're so convinced of this connection that we’re ALL IN for growing our knowledge of all things plant-related. In fact, Olympia is now obtaining her Certificate of Horticulture from the UCLA Extension. And we’ll be at both days of the Native Plant Garden taking in observations about how love and nurturing can grow more than just gardens. West side gardens are featured on Saturday, and East side gardens on Sunday. You can find out more at https://lnkd.in/gPCfnB6T. So, maybe it’s time to think about this: How does YOUR donor garden grow? 🌱#nativeplantgardentour #theolympiacollective #sayhello #corevalues #health #trust #teamwork #connection #fun #generosity #growth #nonprofitconsultant #nonprofitfundraising #fundraising #fundraiser #fundraisingcounsel #gratitude #horticulture #cultivate #cultivation #nativeplants #californianatives #donorgarden

🦜📢 We need your help! 📢🦉 We’ve just launched a crowdfunding campaign → http://t.ly/QpYWz to support our new nest box research project 🐥🏡 and we could really use your help 🙏Our project will explore the value of a new nest box design that helps minimise thermal variation and better mimics natural hollows.Bushfires, drought and land clearing have wreaked havoc on the habitats of native wildlife in Australia. My team and I have the chance to monitor the installation of new nest boxes to give returning wildlife a safe place to shelter and breed in revegetation in Gippsland, Victoria. Our research could ensure these animals have a greater chance of survival. But we need your support to purchase the equipment necessary to carry out this new project. THREE WAYS YOU CAN HELP →🫱 Donate via http://t.ly/QpYWz. It's so easy and your support goes directly to the project. Every dollar counts and every donation means someone cares for our precious wildlife.🗣️ Share this post and the link with your network. The more we let know about our work the greater impact we will have.👋 Reach out to me if you want to know more. There may be other ways you can help the project, e.g., by volunteering some time to help us go through the camera footage once we start our data collection. Our fundraising goal is quite small and we will be making every dollar go a long way. We’ll keep you updated throughout 2024 with regular posts on our research so you will hear all about the impact of every donation.DONATE NOW → http://t.ly/QpYWz

We know #wildlife – not just #nature – is essential to human happiness and #wellbeing. Yet, the explicit value of wildlife is missing from human well-being metrics. By quantifying the value of wildlife to human well-being, we are contributing an important new set of indicators to holistic human well-being metrics. This #GivingTuesday, Donate, connect, or commit to #OneNature to promote and protect #WellBeingForAllBeings! In March 2021, I began an effort that would greatly impact the course of my life, the creation of the NYC Plover Project — a first-of-its-kind non-profit organization with the unwavering purpose of increasing nesting success for the endangered Piping Plover - the only federally-listed species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973 that nests in NYC. I will cut to the chase - the situation for this fragile beach-nesting bird in NYC is dire, and I am asking for your help. For this work, and the impact we have had in less than three years, we have built great partnerships with National Park Service and , and have been awarded several honors including National Park Service’s Hartzog Volunteer Group of the Year (for the entire nation) and the Keesee Conservation Award from National Audubon Society — New York & Connecticut. But why should you or we care about a tiny shorebird?I would argue that if you want to see the impact of climate change TODAY in our nation’s most populous city, come to the beach and meet the Piping Plover. I strongly believe that a city and society that protects the most vulnerable is a better and kinder one overall. As most of us care deeply about the climate crisis, I suggest that we need to center species protection and biodiversity efforts within this work. We are looking to expand from our volunteer programs on every single beach in NYC where Plovers nest (hard work we will continue to grow), but also to bring our work in NYC public school classrooms, bring classrooms to the beach, and expand our community engagement work.Humans are the leading cause for Piping Plover nest and chick loss, so we must do anything and everything within our power to reach people. It may not happen overnight, but we are already seeing impact throughout the tens of thousands of people we have reached through our 10,000 + hours of volunteer service with more than 250 volunteers since 2021.This holiday season, we have also set an audacious goal of $30,000 for individual giving. Please consider a donation here: https://lnkd.in/ebSHxedZ

Question: what does the future of Queenstown's mountain bike industry and community look like? Answer: well, it's complex. There's so many factors at play: the non-endemic pine forests that are suffocating native species, the existence of legal and pirate trails that change the landscape, the global community that gathers here during the summer. Not to mention the events, athlete facilities, access, equity, and the economic benefits to the town.I think most mountain bikers can agree that riding gives us a connection to the natural environment that we might not have other wise. And that when we play in the forest, we truly feel a part of te taiao (the natural world). But if we put a lens of protection and regeneration over our recreation, there's some clear issues that need to be addressed in the basin.Forward Whakatipu aims to be a platform for learning, discussion and collaboration. Asking: how can we come together to solve these issues with all stakeholders—including community—to build a bright future for mountain biking in Tāhuna Queenstown, whilst also taking care of the environment for future generations? Many of these stakeholders are already doing amazing work. So how can we collaborate to amplify these actions?QTMBC, Queenstown Trails, Te Tapu o Tāne, Queenstown Lakes District Council, Love Queenstown Community Fund, Wilding Pine Control Group, Department of Conservation (DOC), W.O.R.D, Sustainable Queenstown, Wakatipu Reforestation Trust, Arrowtown Choppers, Huddl, The Lightfoot Initiative, Mana Tāhuna Charitable Trust, Wakatipu Community Foundation, Protect Our Winters New Zealand. Thanks: Anderson Lloyd & Roto Chartered Accountants https://lnkd.in/g6HYVMwv
