"Ah, very well then, Dimitri, as you wish!" Unusual though it might be for a future sovereign to speak with a subordinate noble as equals, the ginger cannot help but feel heartened by the blond’s request. It seems at though he tires of constantly hearing formal address... no matter, I will give him what he wishes. It is understandable, after all, if even, for example, his closest and most trusted friends insist on referring to him in such a manner. Unfortunately, though those who use a person’s title mean well, they unintentionally reinforce a barrier of separation between ranks, without which all those involved could do. All this aside, it is nice to speak freely like this.

Ferdinand's eyes light up as Dimitri describes his horse and pegasus (he has both! One of each!) with a fond delight. Truly, he must be skilled to be able to ride both, and the young Aegir finds his respect for the Blue Lions leader growing.“A horse and a pegasus, you say? How lovely! I have often wondered what it would be like to soar through the clouds on the back of a pegasus... perhaps I will obtain such a chance while in my schooling here in the academy! It has long been a dream of mine to become a pegasus knight, ever since I first began my riding lessons when I was but a small child...” He gives a wistful sigh, then brightens.“It appears I will have the chance to live out such a dream after all!”

Chuckling, he continues,“Duke and Grimbelle are quite the majestic names, and I am certain they fit their owners well. Tell me, what inspired such names? Was it their personalities?” Grimbelle in particular brings with it the connotation of a maiden of death, swooping from above to bring destruction to those below. He finds himself curious about Duke, however... maybe it is only a part of the horse’s full name? A nickname, even?“For my part, I had a favorite character from an old novel who was a regal and noble ruler; Alexandre the Great sounded as fitting as any a name for my dear companion.”

"Lordling Aegir," Began Michalis with a curt nod of his head― his sole greeting for the evening before he began at once to approach the matter at hand. "You are next to be the duke of the empire― a nonpareil title for one to strive to match, though it is given to you by birthright."

He sips from his flute of what tart beverage he'd plucked from a server's tray, a mien of questioning upon his face.

"I, too, hold status in my home kingdom. As is often due at such gatherings as this, I'd like to familiarize myself with the lore and ways of the empire, and thus your birthright as the heir to the Aegir dukedom."

The regal redheaded man who greets Ferdinand carries with himself the air of a leader and king, one with which the ginger is intimately familiar. His request is not unusual in the slightest, for it is customary of nobles to network and make connections at such events. It appears I must educate him on the intricacies of Adrestian politics at his behest, especially since he has failed to mention one rather important detail about my position.

“Ah, well met, Lord Michalis!” the young Black Eagle greets the man.“I see you have done your research on my homeland. Excellent! You are correct in that I am indeed the heir to House Aegir, though I do not simply cast aside hard work and diligence as a result of my claim to the position. The head of House Aegir not only holds the title of Duke Aegir, but also that of prime minister of Adrestia. As the future prime minister, it is my duty to provide support and wise counsel to our emperor, although in... recent years the emperor has held very little power while my father and six others hold the true reins of the empire.” Shaking his head, Ferdinand clears his throat and continues.“House Aegir is known for bearing the holy Crest of Saint Cichol, and I myself have a Minor Crest of Cichol, which, coupled with my status as the eldest son in my family, automatically entitles me to the position of heir. You see, in Fódlan, Crests are considered to be of great importance, having been bestowed upon the nobility by the Goddess, her Saints, and the Ten Elites. Not every firstborn is guaranteed to inherit a Crest, however, so it was by the Goddess’s blessing that I was born with one.”

Pulling out his stamp card, Ferdinand offers it to the older man.“Might we exchange stamps? I would love to continue this conversation with you—I find myself curious about the practices of nobility of your nation and desire to know more! Shall we conduct a cultural exchange as well?”

Ferdinand von Aegir. A young man of very high standing and paragon of noblesse oblige, and perfect example of the type of person to frequent these sorts of high society functions. Though they were in different houses, as a duch*ess (albeit from a foreign land), she feels it imperative to at least introduce herself.

"Lord Ferdinand, yes?" She approaches the Aegir heir, daintily holding the ends of her dress as she lowers into a curtsy. "I am the duch*ess Linoan, of Thracia's free city of Tahra. Do forgive my boldness, but I was wondering if you might like to share in a dance with me?"

It seems there is no shortage of foreign nobility attending the Officers Academy, and so it should not surprise the heir of House Aegir when a young woman approaches him and introduces herself as a duch*ess of a far-off nation. It is little wonder she already knows his name, having no doubt heard of his noble self from her peers.

“You guess correctly, Lady Linoan! I am indeed Ferdinand von Aegir―but no need to address me with the use of a title! We are equals, are we not?” The ginger offers her a polite and sincere bow, smiling at her as she requests a dance with him.“Of course, milady! You need only ask and I will oblige!” He holds his hand out for her to clasp and leads her with grace and poise onto the dance floor, settling into the waltz with an ease born of living and breathing courtly dances from a young age.

“I must confess―and I do hope you will not mind speaking as we dance―I confess I know pitifully little about your home nation and continent.” Oh, Ferdinand had done his research (a necessity when the members of his House included an emperor and empress from Jugdral), but as he has been at the academy not even three weeks, the knowledge gleaned from said research is scant and cursory. Rather unbefitting of a duke-to-be, he knows, hence his request. I hope Lady Linoan is not offended by my lacking information. Truly, it stings that he is not already an expert in this matter... but the issue is rectifiable, and soon this area, too, will be a strength of his in no time.

Ferdinand von Aegir is no stranger to noble balls and parties, and he is ready to enjoy his first school function! Whether it be with the beautiful ladies or noble men, our favorite sunset-haired prime-minister-to-be is prepared to have the time of his life! But what’s this about a signet ring and stamps? Ah, to qualify for the Dancer assessments? Never fear, Ferdinand will show the monastery that he is worthy of such a reward!
